One of the most difficult decisions a business owner makes is how and when to exit a business.  The “how” is an important decision.  Some say the “how” should be known from the very beginning, whether to transfer to family members, existing management, or to an outside buyer.  At the least, business owners should be planning years before the desired exit date.
